Ryan Stout
Ryan Matthew Stout (born September 30, 1982) is an American stand-up comedian and TV host. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from J.M. Hanks High School in 2000, briefly attended the College of Santa Fe as a Theater Arts major, then studied Creative Writing at San Francisco State University.
Stout first tried stand-up on his 17th birthday at a high school talent show and later performed at poetry open-mics. In June 2001 he moved to San Francisco to pursue comedy, performing hundreds of shows each year and becoming well known in the local scene.
He won the 2005 Boston Comedy Festival and has performed at HBO’s The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas and HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. His TV debut came in 2007 on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. That year he also pilot-tested MTV shows I.Q. and a Singled Out remake with Tara Conner, and later hosted A Shot at Love: The Hangover.
In 2008 he hosted MTV’s Most Valuable Players, Spring Break 2008, and a show called MTV’s Ranked. He continued doing stand-up nationwide and performed at Just For Laughs in Montreal. He has appeared on WGN’s The Bob and Tom Show and E! Entertainment’s Chelsea Lately.
Stout’s Comedy Central Presents half-hour special aired on April 30, 2010, and he finished 10th in Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Showdown in 2011. He made his late-night debut on Conan in 2011. His debut album, Touché, was released December 6, 2011, on Comedy Central Records.
He appeared on Marc Maron’s WTF in 2012 and on Comedy Central’s @midnight with Chris Hardwick in 2016.
