Rostraver Township is in the southwestern corner of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It covers about 32.9 square miles, mostly land, and had 11,374 residents in 2020.

Origin and history: The name likely comes from Rostrevor, a seaside village in Northern Ireland, reflecting early settlers from County Down. The township includes the Household No. 1 Site, a former Monongahela village, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Old Concord School, built in 1830, is a local landmark.

Geography: Rostraver borders several communities, including Elizabeth Township in Allegheny County to the north, West Newton to the northwest, Perry and Washington Townships in Fayette County to the south, North Belle Vernon and Belle Vernon (Fayette County) to the southwest, Monessen to the west-southwest, and Forward Township in Allegheny County to the northwest. It sits along the Monongahela River to the west and the Youghiogheny River to the east, with many nearby towns across those rivers.

Public safety and services: The township has a full-time police department. The Pennsylvania State Police Belle Vernon Barracks are located on Circle Drive. Fire protection comes from three volunteer departments: Rostraver Central Fire Department (Fellsburg), Webster Volunteer Fire Department (Webster), and Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Company (Collinsburg). Emergency medical services are provided by Rostraver/West Newton Emergency Services.
