Parornix finitimella
Parornix finitimella is a small moth in the Gracillariidae family, with a wingspan of about 10 mm. It is found across most of Europe, except Ireland, the Iberian Peninsula, and parts of the Balkan Peninsula.
This species looks very similar to Parornix torquillella, so genitalia examination is often needed to tell them apart.
Adults fly in two generations each year, in May and again in August.
The larvae feed on many Prunus plants, including apricot (P. armeniaca), sweet cherry (P. avium), cherry plum (P. cerasifera), domestic plum (P. domestica), sloe (P. insititia), mahaleb (P. mahaleb), bird cherry (P. padus), peach (P. persica), and blackthorn (P. spinosa). They mine the leaves of their host plants.
