Roses in the Hospital
Roses in the Hospital is a song by the Welsh band Manic Street Preachers. It was released on 20 September 1993 as the third single from their second album, Gold Against the Soul. The song was written by Richey Edwards, Nicky Wire, James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore, and produced by Dave Eringa. It reached number 15 on the UK singles chart.
Critics described its sound as funky and stadium-funk-rock, with one noting a touch of Bowie's Sound and Vision. In the radio edit, the line "we don't want your fucking love" was removed and replaced with a repeat of the song title. The ending line "Forever, ever delayed" inspired the name of the band's greatest-hits collection Forever Delayed, even though that album doesn’t include this song. The release helped after the band supported Bon Jovi at Milton Keynes Bowl on 18–19 September 1993. The song also features the line "Rudi gonna fail," a nod to The Clash, who were a major influence on the Manics.
