The Rose Lime Kiln is a historic lime kiln near Lake City, Colorado. It was built in 1881 by brick mason Samuel Tarkington for George S. Lee, a local mine investor, and named for Lee’s daughter Rose. The kiln processed limestone from the nearby Rose Lime Lode mining claim. It sits off Hinsdale County Road 20, about 12 miles southwest of Lake City, across Henson Creek. It is also known as Henson Creek Chimney. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 8, 1993, and covers about 5 acres (2 hectares). The kiln was destroyed by an avalanche in spring 2019.
