The island’s highest point is 3 meters above sea level, and its coastline is about 760 meters long. From 1986 to 2010, it housed Estonia’s largest cormorant colony. Tondirahu is protected as a nature reserve because of its birds and plants, and people are not allowed to enter, land on the island, or do any economic activities there. Dredging or drilling on the island is also prohibited.
