Rootok Island
Rootok Island, also called Aektok, Aiaktak, Ouektock, Aiaiepta, Veniaminof, or Goloi (Goly; Russian голый meaning "bare"), is the smallest island in the Krenitzin Islands, which are part of the Fox Islands in eastern Alaska. The common spelling Rooktok likely comes from Aektok. Off the island’s northwest side, compass readings can deviate up to about 3 degrees from normal. The island was set aside for a lighthouse on January 4, 1901, but no lighthouse or other navigation aids were ever built. It is uninhabited and measures about 6.3 km long and 6.2 km wide. Coordinates: 54°02′41″N 165°31′55″W (54.04472°N, -165.53194°W).
