Quantum Error is a 2023 action-horror shooter by TeamKill Media. In the game, you play as Jacob Thomas, a firefighter who must explore space research facilities to rescue survivors while facing terrorists and monsters. The game can be played in either first-person or third-person view. You fight enemies using firefighting equipment, and the DualSense controller provides haptic feedback for hazards like hot doors. A feature called quintessence lets you boost Jacob’s abilities, but there are no skill trees, and progress is saved at checkpoints.

Release information: It launched digitally on PlayStation 5 on November 3, 2023, with physical PS5 releases in the US on November 17 and in Europe on December 8. Plans for Windows and Xbox Series X/S versions were mentioned, but PS4 support was canceled.

A sequel, Quantum State, is in development for PS5.

Reception: The game received generally unfavorable reviews. Critics praised the premise but felt the art direction was overly cinematic. Bugs, weak enemy AI, a flawed checkpoint system, and a weak story drew heavy criticism, with some outlets calling it among the worst games of 2023.
