Romario da Silva Resende, known as Romario, was born on 3 December 1990 in São Paulo, Brazil. He is 1.75 m tall and plays as an attacking midfielder. He trained with Portuguesa as a youth.

In his senior career, he played for several clubs, including Força EC, ECO-SP, Paulistano, Fabril-MG, and Radium Mococa (where he scored 14 goals in 28 appearances). He later moved to Europe, playing for Beroe Stara Zagora in Bulgaria (5 appearances, 1 goal) and FC Doxa Dramas in Greece (27 appearances, 8 goals). A notable moment with Beroe was scoring his only goal for the club in a 3–1 win at Akademik Sofia on May 7.
