Roman Surman
Roman Surman is an American guitarist best known for playing with Wednesday 13’s horror punk projects. He has also been a member of Gunfire 76, Bourbon Crow, and the second lineup of Murderdolls, all led by Wednesday 13.
Surman began his long-running collaboration with Wednesday 13 as a guitar technician for his solo project. He first stepped out as a touring guitarist with Bourbon Crow in 2006. In 2008 he worked as an assistant editor and music composer on Wednesday 13’s video Weirdo A-Go-Go. In 2009, Wednesday 13 formed Gunfire 76, releasing the album Casualties and Tragedies and touring the UK on The First Blood Tour later that year.
In 2010, Murderdolls reformed after an eight-year break, with Surman joining as rhythm guitarist. He toured with the band until their second breakup in 2011 and played guitar on their second album Women and Children Last. After Murderdolls split again, Surman continued with Wednesday 13 as lead guitarist. He appears on 2011’s Calling All Corpses and has contributed to every Wednesday 13 release and tour since, with the exception of Undead Unplugged.
Surman also has writing credits on Wednesday 13 releases, including co-writing five tracks on Monsters of the Universe: Come Out and Plague (2015) and earning a sole writing credit for Planet Eater: Interstellar 187—the first time a Wednesday 13 song was written entirely by someone other than Wednesday 13. His career includes work with Gunfire 76, Murderdolls, and Wednesday 13 on albums such as Necrophaze (2019) and Horrifier (2022).
