Dillant–Hopkins Airport
Dillant–Hopkins Airport (IATA: EEN, ICAO: KEEN, FAA LID: EEN) is a general aviation airport located about two miles south of Keene, in Cheshire County, New Hampshire. It covers 888 acres and has two asphalt runways: Runway 2/20 is 6,201 feet long and Runway 14/32 is 4,001 feet long. The airport is owned by the City of Keene and serves Keene and nearby Swanzey. It is listed in the FAA’s National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems as a regional general aviation facility.
History: The land for the airport was purchased in 1942 and dedicated in 1943. It was named after Thomas Dillant and Edwin Hopkins, local men who died in World War II. Regular air service began in 1946 with Northeast Airlines using DC-3s, including a notable inaugural flight that carried mail and a pie from Keene’s mayor to New York’s mayor. Over the years, several airlines served Keene, with routes to New York, Boston, Montreal, and more. Turboprop service began in the 1960s and jet service in the 1970s. By 2008, there was no scheduled commercial airline service.
Today, Dillant–Hopkins focuses on general aviation, hosting private planes, flight training, and other non-scheduled operations.
