Roman Ruler
Roman Ruler (March 20, 2002 – January 25, 2017) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. A dark bay stallion, he was sired by Fusaichi Pegasus and out of Silvery Swan. Bred by Needham/Betz, Liberation Farm & Ashford Stud, he raced for Fog City Stable under trainer Bob Baffert. In 10 starts, he won 5 races, finished second twice, and third once, earning $1,220,800.
His biggest wins came in 2004–2005: the Norfolk Stakes and Best Pal Stakes in 2004, followed by the Dwyer Stakes and Haskell Invitational in 2005. He retired after a second-place finish in the Goodwood Breeders’ Cup Handicap. After racing, Roman Ruler became a successful sire, especially in Argentina, and his death in 2017 was a loss to breeders.
