Roland So
Roland So (born June 22, 1966) is a former Filipino professional tennis player. He represented the Philippines in eight Davis Cup ties from 1986 to 1993, winning six singles and two doubles rubbers, including a singles win against Wimbledon quarter-finalist Shuzo Matsuoka of Japan. So’s highest world rankings were No. 367 in singles and No. 373 in doubles, both achieved on March 22, 1993. In Grand Slams, he played in the qualifying rounds at Wimbledon (1992, 1993) and the US Open (1993). He played college tennis at LSU, earning All-American honors in 1989. At the Southeast Asian Games, he won a doubles gold in 1991 Manila with Felix Barrientos and collected two singles medals (including a silver in 1993 behind Suwandi Suwandi), along with team and mixed doubles medals at SEA Games in Manila (1991) and Singapore (1993).
