2017–18 Danish Cup
2017–18 Danish Cup
The 64th Danish Cup took place in Denmark with 101 teams competing. Brøndby won the tournament and earned a spot in the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round. Silkeborg IF were the runners-up.
How it worked
- Teams: The top three divisions from 2016–17 entered automatically; lower division teams had to qualify.
- First round: 87 teams entered (55 from regional qualifiers, 22 from the 2016–17 2nd Division, 8 from the 2016–17 1st Division, and the bottom two from the 2016–17 Superliga). The draw was 26 June 2017; matches were played 8–10 August 2017. Nørresundby BK received a bye. The rounds used East and West pools, and 5 Fynian teams were moved to the East to balance the groups. Draws ensured 2017–18 Superliga clubs did not meet in this round.
- Second round: 52 teams (43 winners from the first round, plus one bye, plus six teams from the 2016–17 Superliga, plus the last two from the 2016–17 1st Division).
- Third round: 32 teams (26 second-round winners plus the top six from the 2016–17 Superliga). The draw kept Superliga clubs apart. Third-round matches were 19–21 September 2017; draw on 4 September 2017.
- Later rounds: The 16 remaining teams played in late October 2017. Quarter-finals were 4–12 April 2018. Semi-finals were 24–26 April 2018. The competition continued in a knockout format until the winner was decided.
