Factory Girl is a 2013 Egyptian romantic drama directed by Mohamed Khan. The story follows Hiyam, a 21-year-old factory worker in Cairo. When a new supervisor, Salah, falls for her and she becomes pregnant, Hiyam sees a chance to take control of her life, but it comes with a high price.

The film stars Yasmin Raeis as Hiyam, with Hany Adel as Salah and Salwa Khattab in supporting roles. It premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival in December 2013 and was Egypt’s submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, though it did not receive a nomination. The language is Arabic.

Factory Girl was funded by several organizations, including DIFF’s Enjaaz fund and SANAD, and features cinematography by Mahmoud Lotfi. Release dates were December 8, 2013 (Dubai) and March 19, 2014 (Egypt).
