Robin Hood and the Pedlars
Robin Hood and the Pedlars is an old English folk song about Robin Hood, Little John, and Will Scarlet. They meet three traveling pedlars and ask them to stay. Robin shoots at one pedlar, piercing through his pack and striking the skin with enough force to kill, even though the pack was in the way. The pedlars drop their packs and wait for Robin, but the first pedlar, Kit o Thirske, breaks Robin's bow. Robin asks for time to fetch staves, and a big fight begins. The six men fight hard, and all of them regret it. Kit knocks Robin down unconscious. Little John and Will stop the fight, saying Robin is dead. Kit offers balm to heal him. The pedlars go on to Nottingham, while Little John and Will take care of Robin. When Robin wakes, he throws up the balm, and all three men are dirty.
