Pictured Within is Jon Lord's first studio album in sixteen years. The Deep Purple keyboardist released it in October 1998. It was recorded in 1997 at Maarweg Studio in Cologne and runs about 74 minutes. The album features guests such as Sam Brown, Miller Anderson, Pete York, and Thijs van Leer. The single "Wait a While," sung by Sam Brown, was released in 1999. To promote the album, Lord did a short German tour in May 1999. The album sits between his earlier release "Before I Forget" (1982) and his 2004 album "Beyond the Notes."
