Rickey Grundy (birth name Ricky R. Grundy; January 30, 1959 – July 27, 2015) was an American gospel singer and leader of The Rickey Grundy Chorale. Born in Los Angeles, he finished high school at 15 and studied at the University of Southern California Conservatory of Music. He began his music career in 1979, writing "Call Him Up" for Keith Pringle and the Pentecostal Community Choir, and he played piano and wrote songs for Pringle, singing lead on the 1988 track "I'm So Grateful." In 1988 he released Spirit Come Down on Sparrow Records, which reached No. 22 on Billboard's Gospel Albums chart. The Rickey Grundy Chorale released its own album in 1990, reaching No. 10 on the Gospel Albums chart. He appeared as the choir leader in the Coen brothers' 2004 film The Ladykillers. Grundy died on July 27, 2015, after health problems. His music blends traditional Black gospel and urban contemporary gospel.
