Reynette of Koblenz
Reynette of Koblenz (c. 1340 – after 1390) was a German‑Jewish moneylender from Koblenz. She was first married to Leo von Münstermaifeld and then to Moses Bonenfant. She began working as a moneylender after becoming a widow and continued to do so during her second marriage. Although some rules from the 12th century said a married woman’s business should be treated as part of her husband’s, she was allowed to handle her own affairs. Reynette was a major moneylender in the region, with dealings larger than those of both her husbands. In 1372 she raised 8,000 guilders to meet the demands of the city fathers of Andernach.
