Renato Cárdenas
Renato Cárdenas Álvarez (2 August 1949 – 14 April 2022) was a Chilean historian, writer, poet and teacher. He was born in Calen, Dalcahue, and died in Ancud at age 72. In 1975 he co-founded the cultural-literary group Taller Literario Aumen with Carlos Trujillo. He studied pedagogy at the University of Chile and at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Valparaíso, and later received a scholarship to study communications at the University of London. Cárdenas was a member of the Academia Chilena de la Lengua and served as the academic director of the Archivo Bibliográfico y Documental de Chiloé.
