Refuge Denied
Refuge Denied is the debut studio album by the American heavy metal band Sanctuary, released on April 26, 1988, by Epic Records. It was recorded at Steve Lawson Productions in Seattle, Washington, and runs 39 minutes and 35 seconds. The music blends heavy metal, thrash metal, and power metal. The album was produced by Dave Mustaine and Paul Lani.
After Sanctuary's first demo, guitarist Lenny Rutledge contacted Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, who offered to produce. Mustaine's manager, Keith Rawls, financed the recording and became Sanctuary's manager. After talking with several labels, Sanctuary signed with Epic Records.
The track "Battle Angels" was later used in the 2009 video game Brütal Legend. In 2010, Refuge Denied was reissued as a double CD with Into the Mirror Black by IronBird (Cherry Red).
The song "Battle Angels" was also featured in Netflix's The OA, in the episode "Away." All tracks were written by Warrel Dane and Lenny Rutledge, except where noted.
