Rasoul Azadani
Rasoul Azadani is an Iranian animator, lighting designer, and layout artist born in 1965 in Isfahan, Iran. He is best known for his work at Walt Disney Animation Studios. He studied animation at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults and later at the California Institute of the Arts, and joined Disney in 1985 as a layout assistant.
Azadani was nominated for an Annie Award in 1995 for Best Individual Achievement for Production Design in the Field of Animation for Pocahontas. He is known for his strong eye in composition, filmmaking, cutting, staging, and contrast. The character Razoul in Aladdin is named after him, and there was a line using his name to open the Cave of Wonders that was ultimately cut.
