RMS Duke of Rothesay (1928)
RMS Duke of Rothesay was a turbine steam passenger ship built for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. Built by William Denny and Brothers in Dumbarton (yard number 1195), she was launched on 22 March 1928 and began service on 30 April 1928. She and her sister ships, RMS Duke of Argyll (1928) and RMS Duke of Lancaster (1927), were designed to carry passengers on the Heysham–Belfast ferry route. Her port of registry was Lancaster, United Kingdom, and she had a tonnage of 3,606 GRT with a speed of 21 knots. She served from 1928 to 1956, first under LMS (1928–1948) and then under the British Transport Commission (1948–1956). In 1956, along with her sisters, she was replaced by the TSS Duke of Rothesay. She was scrapped on 18 January 1957.
