Río Abajo is a barrio in the municipality of Cidra, Puerto Rico. It has an area of 2.17 square miles (5.6 km2), all land, and sits about 1,388 feet (423 meters) above sea level. In 2010, 1,097 people lived there, for a density of about 506 per square mile (195 per km2).

Río Abajo is located at coordinates 18°11′14″N, 66°11′24″W (18.187169°N, -66.189931°W). It is in the Atlantic Time Zone (UTC-4).

Historically, Río Abajo was listed in Spain’s gazetteers. After Puerto Rico became a U.S. territory following the 1898 Treaty of Paris, the 1899 U.S. census counted the combined population of Río Abajo and the Ceiba barrio as 1,100.

Barrios are subdivided into smaller areas called sectores. In Río Abajo these include Berríos, Capilla, Castrodad, Doce, González, La Vega, Los Meléndez, Los Nieves, Luna, Ortíz, Rivera, Vázquez, and Viejo Almacén.
