Ràdio Ciutat de Badalona
Ràdio Ciutat de Badalona (RCB) is Badalona’s municipal public radio. It started in July 1981 and broadcasts 24 hours a day on FM 94.4 and online at rcb.cat. Its studios are at 11 San Agustí Street, in the Morera district.
RCB is part of Badalona Comunicació, the local media group that also runs Televisió de Badalona (TVB) and the monthly magazine Bétulo. The director is Franc Famades (who also heads TVB). The program director is Juanjo Zambrano and the information director is Jordi Martí.
In 1981 Badalona became the first big city in Catalonia to create a municipal radio station. RCB serves as a voice for the people of Badalona, delivering information, music and especially sports coverage, including broadcasts of CF Badalona and Joventut Badalona. The oldest program is Safari Pop, which has been on air since 1988. The station’s schedules have long included a morning current affairs magazine and an afternoon program with more sociocultural content.
