Quattrino

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

The quattrino was an old Italian money unit used mainly in central Italy, especially Tuscany and Rome. Its name comes from the Latin quater denari, meaning four denari, so its value was four denari—about one third of a soldo. The quattrino disappeared after Italy was unified in 1861, when the lira was introduced to replace the older currencies.
