Parathyroid hormone receptor
Parathyroid hormone receptors
There are two known parathyroid hormone receptors in mammals: PTH1R and PTH2R. Both are G protein–coupled receptors (GPCRs) that sit in the cell membrane and trigger signals inside the cell when parathyroid hormone binds. The PTH1R gene is on chromosome 3, and the PTH2R gene is on chromosome 2. These receptors let cells respond to parathyroid hormone and help regulate calcium-related processes in the body.
