Plot
On his deathbed, the King of Ruritania must choose which of his twin sons will be king: Prince Rudolph or Prince Michael. He picks Rudolph, which makes Michael furious and sets him plotting to seize the throne. Michael’s wife, Princess Antoinette, learns of his plans and worries for Rudolph’s safety. Antoinette travels to London and finds a man who looks exactly like Rudolph, a lookalike who could stand in for the king-to-be. She brings him back to Ruritania to help.
Michael drugs Rudolph at a celebration, hoping to take the crown while Rudolph lies unconscious. The impostor Rudolph would ascend to the throne, leaving the real Rudolph in a coma. Michael then abducts the king’s son and takes him to Castle Zenda with plans to murder him. Antoinette and the lookalike Rudolph devise a rescue plan. They confront Michael, defeat him, and save the real Rudolph. In the end, Rudolph (the rightful heir) becomes king of Ruritania.
