- Sikh forces reached Noorpur near Pathankot and forced the local ruler to surrender.
- A Mughal force under Raja Gurdit Mal, with Lakhpat Rai and Dogra support, moved to confront the Sikhs at Sodhra and Badra.
- Gurdit Mal commanded about 5,000 cavalry and 7,000 infantry; the Sikh force was smaller, around 2,000.
- Hari Singh Bhangi advised fighting with swords since the Sikhs were outnumbered and a gun battle wasn’t favorable.
- The Sikhs launched a sudden sword attack, catching the Mughal forces by surprise and inflicting heavy losses.
- Gurdit Mal barely escaped and retreated with his army.
Aftermath
- About a week later, the Sikhs defeated Adina Beg near Khanpur and reoccupied Amritsar in the Siege of Amritsar (1748).
