Port Orford Formation is a geologic formation in Oregon, United States that preserves fossils. It lies between the Empire Formation below and the Elk River Beds above. The sequence starts with a basal buff-yellow sand, topped by a conglomerate layer, followed by rusty sand that grades upward into blue-gray, clay-rich sand. This upper part is truncated by the sea, with the Elk River Beds resting on top. The formation was named by Ewart M. Baldwin in 1945.
