POP Montreal is an annual music festival in Montreal, Quebec, held in late September. It brings together more than 400 bands to over 50 venues across the city, with many shows in the Mile End neighborhood. The festival also features film events (Film POP), art events (Art POP), a conference (POP Symposium), and Puces POP, a craft market. It started in 2002, created by Daniel K. Seligman, Noelle Sorbara, and Peter Rowan, with Daniel Seligman serving as the festival’s creative director. From its beginnings of 80 acts in 40 venues along Saint Laurent Boulevard, POP Montreal has grown into a major event that attracts more than 50,000 attendees. It showcases a wide mix of genres—from rock and indie to hip hop and folk—featuring both famous acts and local Montreal favorites. The festival typically runs for several days in the fall, turning Montreal into a hub of music, film, and arts.
