Podborsko
Podborsko is a small village in north-western Poland. It is part of Gmina Tychowo, in Białogard County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The village sits about 9 km west of Tychowo and 13 km southeast of Białogard, with Szczecin around 118 km away. It has about 60 residents.
Just north of Podborsko lie the remains of an underground Soviet nuclear base from the Cold War. From the late 1960s, a hidden bunker stored Soviet tactical nuclear weapons for use by the Polish Army in wartime. The base was called special depot 3001; two other depots in Poland were 3002 near Jastrowie and 3003 near Templewo. The weapons were withdrawn before Soviet troops left Poland in 1993.
In 2005 the facility was transferred to the Polish Prison Service, creating an external branch of a detention center in Koszalin. Since 2015 the site has been run by the Museum of Polish Arms in Kołobrzeg, and in September 2016 an exhibit called "Cold War Museum" opened inside the bunker.
