Naka Benue Nigeria
Naka, in Benue State, Nigeria, is the headquarters of Gwer West Local Government Area. It is known as a major producer of honey and rice in the state. The area covers 1,094 square kilometers and had a population of 122,145 at the 2006 census. Naka has 15 council wards and kindreds. The first paramount ruler was the late Chief Gendaga Damna, and the current paramount ruler is Chief Daniel Ayua Abomtse. The caretaker chairman is Hyacinth Kwegi.
The local government also includes other settlements such as Bunaka, Agagbe, Nagi, Aondoana, Kula, Jimba, Anguhar, Atukpu, and Ajigba. Ikyande is a popular market in Gwer West.
Naka Benue is named after a prominent founder, a grandson of Asha (Onmbaasha) Ahsa-Tor. In April 2018, Naka town was shaken when soldiers reportedly burned about 200 houses after herdsmen allegedly killed about 24 people in Mbakyondu village in the same area.
