Planet Lulin
Planet Lulin is a ten-episode Australian sci-fi comedy for kids. It was created by Melanie Sano and centers on Lulin, a 12-year-old girl who is half-alien from the planet Astorad and half-human. She has alien powers that she’s still learning to control. Intergalactic invaders called Megaheads are tracking Astoradians and banishing them to the Void, so Lulin must stay hidden while helping her friends Henri and Spider. She also wants to win the school science contest, SCI-BOG, and a rival student named Verjonica starts to notice that something is unusual about her.
The series was previously known as F.A.N.G and Galaxy Girl. It received support from Screen Australia and VicScreen. Production involved Pennie Brown and Antje Kulpe as producers, with executive producers Emma Fitzsimons, Mary-Ellen Mullane, and Gill Carr. Emma Fitzsimons (Princess Pictures), the ABC’s Mary-Ellen Mullane, and Moody Street Kids’ Gill Carr also served as producers. Melanie Sano wrote and created the show.
Filming happened in the north-west of Melbourne in June 2023. Planet Lulin premiered on ABC Me on 1 January 2024, with a new episode each weekday at 5 pm; all ten episodes were available on ABC iview from that date.
