Gyzyljar Sanctuary
Gyzyljar Sanctuary is a protected area in Mary Province, Turkmenistan. It covers about 30,000 hectares (roughly 300 square kilometers) and was established in 1956. The sanctuary, known as a zakaznik, is part of Bathyz Nature Reserve. It was created as a place for animals to give birth (foaling and lambing).
