Vahid Shamsaei
Vahid Shamsaei (born 21 September 1975 in Tehran) is an Iranian futsal coach and former player who played as a pivot. He is considered one of the greatest futsal players of all time, scoring 392 goals for Iran’s national team and earning 189 caps between 1999 and 2017. He is the head coach of Iran’s national futsal team.
Shamsaei won the AFC Futsal Championship with Iran eight times and was named AFC Futsal Player of the Year in 2007, 2008 and 2015. The Asian Football Confederation calls him the Ali Daei of futsal, and he is widely regarded as the world’s top futsal goalscorer.
A notable moment in his career came in the 2007 AFC Futsal Championship final against Japan, where he scored his 316th goal for Iran, setting a national record at the time. After retiring as a player, he served as a player-coach for clubs including Tasisat Daryaei (2014–2018) and Giti Pasand (2020–2021) before becoming Iran’s head coach in 2022.
