ASEAN Express
The ASEAN Express is a freight train route that connects Kelana Jaya in Selangor, Malaysia with Chongqing in southwestern China. The train travels through Thailand and Laos on its way to China. It is operated by KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad). The first trip left the Kontena Nasional Inland Clearance Depot on 27 June 2024 and arrived in Chongqing on 11 July 2024. KTMB plans to run two services a week between Kelana Jaya and Chongqing, with the goal of moving to daily services later. The inaugural train carried agricultural products and electrical appliances. Malaysian farmers hope to export fresh durian to China via this route later in 2024.
