Pingree Grove, Illinois
Pingree Grove is a village in Kane County, Illinois, located in the northern part of the county. It sits near Hampshire, Huntley, Gilberts, Plato Center, and Elgin. U.S. Route 20 runs through the village, connecting it to Marengo to the northwest and Elgin to the southeast; downtown Chicago is about 45 miles away.
As of 2020, Pingree Grove has 10,365 residents and covers 3.64 square miles, all land. The population density is about 2,850 people per square mile. There are 2,968 households and 2,359 families, with 3,743 housing units.
The community is diverse: about 69% White, 4.7% African American, 6.4% Asian, 6.9% from other races, and 12.6% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race make up about 20.7% of residents. The median household income is about $89,700, and the median family income about $98,900. Per capita income is around $41,000. The median age is 35.6 years, and about 29.5% of residents are under 18. On February 10, 2010, the area experienced a small earthquake of magnitude 3.8, felt as far away as Madison, Wisconsin, with the epicenter near Virgil, Illinois.
