Pim & Pom: The Big Adventure (Dutch: Pim & Pom: Het Grote Avontuur) is a 2014 Dutch animated adventure film. Directed by Gioia Smid, with a screenplay by Fiona van Heemstra and Tingue Dongelmans, it is based on the Pim and Pom children’s books by Fiep Westendorp. The movie was produced by Gioia Smid and Michiel de Rooij for Pim & Pom BV and Flinck Film. It has a running time of 70 minutes, is in Dutch, and had a budget of €1 million. It was released in the Netherlands and Belgium on 9 April 2014 and earned about $522,000 at the box office.

The story follows two house cats, Pim and Pom, whose owner’s nieces plan to move away and want to take the cats with them. After the nieces take them on a picnic in the woods, Pim and Pom uncover their plan and run away. Now they must survive outside and find their way back home.

Gioia Smid, who leads the Fiep Westendorp Foundation, had previously directed a 52-episode TV series called The Adventures of Pim and Pom for Dutch Nickelodeon in 2008. For this feature film, the team spent about two-and-a-half years on the story, producing sixteen script versions and redrawing the storyboard five times. The film’s box office included a Netherlands opening of about $56,734 and a total of about $501,990, plus a Belgium opening of about $4,672 and a total of $19,983, for a combined worldwide total of roughly $521,973.
