Peter Deeg
Peter Deeg (14 May 1908 – 25 June 2005) was a German lawyer, writer and politician born in Bad Kissingen. He joined the Nazi Party in 1928 and later became a member of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU). He gained attention from the Waltershausen murder case in 1933, which had antisemitic elements. Through his legal contacts he met Julius Streicher, who helped him publish with Der Stürmer, the Nazi publishing house. Between 1938 and 1940 he published three books: Hofjuden (Court Jew), Die Judengesetze Großdeutschlands (Jewish Laws of Greater Germany), and Vor 50 Jahren. Für und wider den Russen-Pakt (Fifty Years Ago — For and Against the Pact with Russia). From 1940 there were reports of a falling out with the Nazi Party, though details are unclear. After World War II he befriended Franz Josef Strauss and they were involved in the Spiegel affair. Deeg remained a member of the CSU.
