Penny (album)
Penny is the second studio album by Austrian singer Penny McLean, released in 1977. The disco record runs about 38 minutes and 43 seconds, was released on Jupiter Records, and produced by Michael Kunze.
Before the album came out, McLean released three solo singles: Nobody's Child, Zwischen Zwei Gefühlen, and Dance, Bunny Honey, Dance. Only the last single was included on the album’s track list.
At the same time, Penny sang with Silver Convention. After the group released The Boys from Liverpool, she left Silver Convention.
The album charted in Sweden.
Reception:
- RPM’s Jackie Valasek said he wasn’t fully impressed with the disco content, but noted that the second side has a few good listening tracks and highlighted Mambo Mama as the best disco track.
- AllMusic’s Justin Kantor said Penny better showcases her vocal strength and has production that is more varied and fuller than Lady Bump. He noted a couple of lackluster moments but found the album thoroughly enjoyable and relatively free of the gimmicks on her first album.
Credits are listed in the album’s liner notes.
