Paul Ellender
Paul Ellender (born 21 October 1974 in Scunthorpe, England) is a former professional footballer who played as a defender and later served as assistant manager of Bottesford Town.
Ellender began his career with Scunthorpe United as a youth player and turned professional in 1993, but left in 1994 without first-team appearances. He then played for Gainsborough Trinity (1994–1998), where he was captain and led the team in the 1997–98 FA Cup first-round tie against Lincoln City. In 1998 he joined Altrincham and helped them win the Northern Premier League and reach the Conference. He moved to Scarborough in 1999.
In 2001 Ellender signed for Boston United for a club-record transfer fee of £80,000. He captained Boston to the Conference title and promotion to the Football League in 2001–02 and stayed with the club until 2008, including a loan spell at Chester City in 2006.
After leaving Boston, he played for Alfreton Town and had a loan back to Boston United in 2009. He then joined Retford United for the 2009–10 season and moved to North Ferriby United in 2010. Later, he coached youth teams at Bottesford Town and, on 19 May 2020, became player-coach of the first team under Jimmy McNeil. On 20 May 2021, Boston United named the restaurant at their new stadium after Ellender.
