Patrick Seymour
Patrick Seymour, sometimes credited as Pat Seymour, is a British songwriter and keyboard player with classical training. He has worked as a live and session musician for many artists and was a key member of the Eurythmics’ backing band in the 1980s. He earned a degree in classical music from Oxford University and first appeared on the UK music scene with the funk group UK Players, whose debut album No Way Out was released in 1982.
In 1983, UK Players moved to RCA, where Seymour met the Eurythmics and joined them as their keyboard player for the 1984 world tour. He continued recording and touring with the Eurythmics through the late 1980s and co-wrote tracks for their albums Revenge (1986) and We Too Are One (1989), as well as collaborating with Dave Stewart on the Lily Was Here soundtrack (1989).
Seymour has also written songs for others. He composed "Sleep Like a Child," recorded by Joss Stone for her Mind Body & Soul album (2004), and he co-wrote Shakespears Sister’s hit "You’re History" (1989). He has scored music for film and television, including Anne Rice’s Feast of All Saints, The Simian Line, Me and Isaac Newton, The Johnsons, and he arranged and conducted the music score by Badly Drawn Boy for the film About a Boy.
