Mansfield Engineered Components (MEC) is a private company in Mansfield, Ohio that designs and makes closure mechanisms, counterbalances, and hinges for major appliances. It operates from a 180,000-square-foot facility and employs about 220 people. The leadership includes Bruce Cummins as CEO and Steve Cummins as Executive Vice President.

A brief history: The business began as Mansfield Plating Company in 1939, founded by Otis Cummins Jr., to provide metal finishing for automotive, appliance, and furniture markets. In the 1960s, Otis Cummins III started Mansfield Manufacturing to fabricate metal components. The two firms merged in 1972 to form Mansfield Industries. Mansfield Assemblies was founded in 1987 to offer contract manufacturing and added a design and engineering group in 1989. On October 13, 2011, Mansfield Industries and Mansfield Assemblies adopted the name Mansfield Engineered Components.

In July 2023 MEC formed a strategic partnership with The Sabaf Group, which acquired 51% ownership. Sabaf, based in Ospitaletto, Italy, is a global leader in appliance components. MEC continues to operate at its Mansfield site with the same management and employees.

MEC has earned recognition for its work, including the 2010 Department of Energy Save Energy Now Energy Champion Plant award, and it is known for delivering custom closure mechanisms for major appliance customers.
