Palaquium rivulare
Palaquium rivulare is a tree in the Sapotaceae family, endemic to Borneo. It grows up to about 20 meters tall and has pale brown bark. The flowers come in inflorescences with up to 10 brownish flowers. The species was first described by Dutch botanist H.J. Lam in 1927; rivulare means “inhabiting rivers.” It lives in mixed dipterocarp forests, limestone areas, and riparian habitats. It is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN, but its habitat is threatened by logging and conversion to palm oil plantations. It occurs in protected areas such as Lambir Hills National Park and Kinabalu Park.
