Southeastern four-eyed opossum

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

South-eastern four-eyed opossum (Philander frenatus) is a mammal native to South America. It lives in the Atlantic Forest region of Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. It is a large opossum with dark gray fur on the back and sides and a white or cream-colored belly. The throat hairs have gray bases with a cream vertical stripe along the midline. The fur is short, and the tail is dark brown or black all the way through. It is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN. Some sources treat this animal as the same species as the gray four-eyed opossum (Philander quica), meaning Philander frenatus may be a synonym of that species.
