The Newman Institute is a Catholic charity in Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland. It works with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killala to help people learn about the faith through faith formation courses, some accredited and some not.

It was founded in 1998 by then-Bishop Thomas Finnegan. The institute is based in a building near St Muredach's Cathedral in Ballina, which opened in October 2010 and was opened by then-President Mary McAleese.

In January 2009, the institute launched a Diploma in Applied Theology with St. Angela's College, Sligo. The diploma was accredited by the National University of Ireland, Galway. A Bachelor in Theology and Community Involvement, offered with St. Angela's and NUIG, began in 2010. The first six degree students graduated in November 2015.

The Newman Institute is registered with the Charities Regulator for the advancement of education and the advancement of religion. As of 2021, it had one full-time employee.

Leadership includes Director Michael Gilroy and Chancellor Bishop John Fleming.
