Order of the Star of Ethiopia
The Order of the Star of Ethiopia is a historic Ethiopian Empire knighthood. It was created in 1884–1885 by the Negus of Shewa, who became Emperor Menelik II. Today it is awarded as a house order by the Crown Council of Ethiopia. The order honors Ethiopian and foreign civilians and military officers for good service to the country. It is considered the fifth-ranking Ethiopian order, alongside the Order of Menelik II. In many Commonwealth realms, the order’s grades can be worn as a foreign decoration after British and other Commonwealth awards, according to official lists of approved orders.
