Orang Kanaq language
Orang Kanaq is a Malayic language spoken in Peninsular Malaysia by the Orang Kanaq, one of the 19 Orang Asli groups. It is part of the Austronesian language family (Malayo-Polynesian, Malayic).
The language is severely endangered. UNESCO has listed it as at risk and it was once believed to be extinct since the 1950s. About 80 native speakers were reported in 2007.
Orang Kanaq is a distinct form of Malay, but its vocabulary has been greatly influenced by Malay. All Orang Kanaq people understand the language, though many use Malay more often in daily life.
