Open Message Queue (OpenMQ) is an open-source messaging system from the Eclipse Foundation. It implements the Java Message Service (JMS) 3.1 and is the default JMS provider for GlassFish. Written in Java, it runs on many platforms and includes enterprise features beyond JMS, such as clustering for scalability and high availability, a C API, and a full JMX administration API. OpenMQ also includes JMSRA, a Jakarta Connectors implementation that lets Jakarta EE servers use OpenMQ. The project’s stable release is version 6.6.0 (May 29, 2025), released under the Eclipse Public License 2.0 with a GPL linking exception. Source code is available on GitHub.
